Los Angeles, In Master Pieces

'Flying Saucers'

'Flying Saucers'

Financial District, Los Angeles, CA, 2019

This is the first nighttime photograph made for the portfolio.Taken in the Financial District, it was fun to keep photographing long past, what used to be, a curfew for handheld photography. With the sun setting early in the winter, the lack of daylight increased the sense of urgency in the hustle and bustle of the downtown community, seemingly heading home from work. It was important to capture the environment of activity, which was moving in all directions. Though void of people, this image of flying saucers of light moves in all directions and represents just one personality of Los Angeles, varied and dynamic as it is. There is much of interest on on S. Figueroa St., and I found myself photographing there longer than anticipated. The goal at the time was trying to get back to the Westin Bonaventure Hotel as soon as possible, but I could not stop taking pictures. I look forward to going back to Los Angeles!
